Submitting a Proposal

DCA utilizes an online platform powered by SurveyMonkey Apply. The process to prepare and submit a grant proposal will be done almost entirely online, with the exception of the final step. Applicants should use Chrome to complete their application. Please refrain from using Firefox or Safari. The system is not compatible with those internet browsers.

Step 1 – Register: Click on the following link to access DCA’s online grant submission system: https://dca-la.smapply.org/

Applicants will need to register for an account. A confirmation email will be sent to your email account with a new link. Clicking on this link will complete the registration process.

Step 2 – Fill Out the Proposal Forms: Information entered in the forms may be saved one section at a time as the form is being filled out. Be sure to save often.

Once all the forms have been filled out, and all artistic documentation, ancillary materials, and supplemental items have been uploaded, the proposal is ready to be submitted.

Step 3 – Submit the Proposal: Submitting the proposal is a two-step process.

Part I – Electronic Submission: Click on “Submit” to electronically submit the grant proposal. Once an applicant clicks on “Submit,” no more edits or additions to the proposal may be made. The deadline for the electronic submission is 11:59pm on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Part II – Hard Copy Submission: After submitting your proposal electronically, you will receive an automatically generated email with instructions to access and print your proposal to be used as the hard copy submission. The hard copy should postmarked no later than Wednesday, November 8, 2023 to:

Department of Cultural Affairs
Grants Administration
201 North Figueroa Street, Suite 1400
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Please do not drop off your application hard copy. DCA LA offices are currently closed to the public and unable to accept in-person delivery.
